Thinking about using Google Ads to run affiliates - illustrating a specific case study

This article was previously shared but for some reason was removed by Facebook for violating its spam policy. However, this is one of the most high-quality and interactive articles in the group, so I decided to repost and edit it a bit.

Choose a campaign for easy monetization

Choosing a campaign to make it easy to monetize isn't always easy. In the Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) sector with hundreds of different campaigns such as physiological products, cosmetics, and dietary supplements, it is very important to choose a campaign with high commissions and little advertising competition. After thorough research, I decided to choose FEG Eyelash Care product to test.

Reasons to choose FEG Eyelash Care:

  1. High Commission: FEG Eye Care offers a commission of up to 200k per order.
  2. Low Competition: According to keyword bid checks on Google Ads, the cost per click for keywords related to "FEG eyelash care" ranges from 2-3k. Compared to other products such as physiological food (10-20k) or cosmetics (5-10k), this is a fairly reasonable price.
  3. Good Search Volume: This product has a search volume of 1-10K per month.

Although keyword prices may increase after this article, I also share some campaigns with keyword bids below 2K: digestive yeast, constipation yeast, belly belt, saffron, skin serum. Anyone who has a need can test.

Select Traffic Pull

For me, the most important thing to do as an affiliate is to choose a niche and attract traffic. After choosing a product, you need to decide on an effective and cost-effective method of attracting traffic. In my personal experience, making videos on TikTok and YouTube is not my strength, and advertising on Facebook is facing many problems such as account locking and Fanpage.

In the end, I chose a combination of Google Ads and Landing Page.

Note:

Recently, I tried running ads on Facebook and TikTok but it was paused due to policy violations, possibly due to using a .store domain name (due to its low price).

To run Google Ads, I used the Landing Page of Yangmi FEG provided by the brand, but edited it to increase attractiveness and persuasion.

The content of the article is very important. I often put myself in the customer's shoes to check if the content is attractive and reliable enough. An effective article should have a lot of actual images, videos, and feedback from customers to convince readers to click on the purchase link.

Some small but effective elements in a Call-to-Action (CTA) such as a blinking purchase button, popups that show up after 15 seconds, successful order notifications every 10 seconds can increase conversion rates.

About advertising technology

After preparing the article, I proceed to advertise on Google. The content of the ad should include psychologically stimulating sentences such as "don't buy before reading this article, lest you regret it" to increase the click-through rate.

Target: Vietnam Region

Advertising Cost: 200K per day

Extensions: Need more in full

There are many other technical factors to optimize for in Google Ads such as quality score, click-through rate (CTR), and top-of-page appearance rate, but these issues will be discussed in another article.

Keyword Strategy: Instead of using "phrase matching" or "broad matching" to drive as much traffic as possible, I concluded that "exact matching" was more effective. Some keywords always have a higher conversion rate, and some keywords cost a lot of money without bringing in conversions.

It is recommended to install the Facebook Pixel or TikTok Pixel for remarketing and increase conversion rates later.

Result

The total advertising cost is 86.2K, the revenue from the product reaches 2.1 million, the commission is 768K, the profit ratio is 1:9 (rounded to 10 for impressive). The cost per conversion is 20.6K. (Conversion settings in Google Ads are a bit advanced, who needs me, I'll guide you further).

Of course, not every day achieves such results, but this article chooses the most successful day to illustrate the effectiveness.

Conclusion

To run an effective advertising campaign, content writing skills are crucial (70% of success). It is recommended to read more articles about customer psychology to improve writing skills. Put yourself in the customer's shoes to test the persuasiveness of the content. If the article doesn't convince you, it won't convince the customer either.

Google Ads is still an effective tool for those who know how to take advantage of it, although many people are focusing on Facebook. Good luck!
