The Journey from Zero to the First $1000 in MMO – Lessons for Newbies

Hello MMO community! I'm a newbie with wet feet, having just spent nearly a year learning and practicing in this fascinating MMO world. Today, I would like to share my journey from zero to earning my first $1000, along with the lessons I have experienced. Hopefully my story will help those who are starting out, as I used to be.

1. Step into MMO and Find a Group

At the end of 2022, I heard the term MMO for the first time. At first, I just thought it was simply online jobs such as teaching, content writing, design... It wasn't until mid-February 2023 that I really started to learn more about MMOs, mainly through Youtube, Facebook, and Google.

At that time, I was overwhelmed by the countless information and rampant advertising courses. I was confused about where to start, so I decided to find a mentor to orient. Fortunately, a friend introduced me to Mr. Tin's MMO group.

In the group, I feel like I'm lost in the world of MMO "sharks", with sharing about sales and huge income. I started FOMO and aspired to be like them.

2. Get started with affiliate marketing

After researching, I decided to start with Affiliate Marketing in the form of Free Traffic, because I didn't have the capital to run ads. I imitate others by spreading links on an old fanpage that has a few hundred followers.

However, I quickly realized my mistake when making a video, posting it arbitrarily, not clearly identifying the target customer file. The result is a poorly interactive, ineffective page.

I am determined to learn from scratch, research the Facebook algorithm, how to make copyright circumvention videos, optimize posting time... After a period of perseverance, my page gradually had a stable number of interactions, reaching 10k follows, then 50k, 70k...

3. Regrettable Mistakes and Achievements

When the page reached 180k followers, I started accepting ad bookings, earning 2-3 million/month. However, out of gullibility, I downloaded a JD file from a partner and so... page color flies permanently! It's a lifelong lesson about being careful with strange files.

In parallel with making a page, I also tried my hand at TikTok, reup videos and attach product links. As a result, I earned nearly 18 million in a few months. Later, I switched to TikTok Beta and had a more stable income.

In summary, in the past nearly a year, I have earned nearly 40 million from MMOs. Although it is not a very large number, for a newbie like me, it is a proud achievement and a motivation for me to keep trying.

4. Lessons learned

• Don't FOMO: Don't get carried away by flashy numbers. Stay calm, learn, and persevere.
• Get to know yourself carefully: Identify your strengths and weaknesses to choose the right direction.
• Specific Planning: Break down work into specific steps for easy execution and tracking.
• Focus: Don't hold on to too many things at once. Focus on one area until you get results.
• Think differently: Don't run after the crowd. Look for less competitive niches.
• Action: Learning must go hand in hand with action. Only practice brings real results.

FROM NEWBIE TO MAKING $1000 IN MMO: MY JOURNEY

1. Getting started and learning about MMOs

I'm a newbie in the MMO (Make Money Online) field and have been on a journey to learn about it since the end of 2022. At first, I only knew that MMOs were online jobs such as online teaching, translating, content writing, design, and video editing. By mid-February 2023, I began to seriously learn more when I had some free time. Before that, I was still skeptical about MMOs because there were many warnings about scams in newspapers and social networks.

However, when I started digging deeper into MMOs through sources like YouTube, Facebook, and Google with keywords like "MMO Monetization," I noticed a huge amount of information and felt overwhelmed. In particular, I saw ads for courses, tutorials from zero to hero, and how to run ads. I feel confused and intend to take a course or find a suitable mentor, as self-study may be difficult.

Fortunately, a friend introduced me to Mr. Tin's group. At first, I felt overwhelmed when I saw the team members showing off their huge sales and impressive achievements. That made me feel like starting right away. However, as I read the articles and materials for Newbie, I realized that the course was not the only solution, and I needed to do my own research and experiment to determine the right direction.

2. Get into practice and learn each step

When I started, I decided to try my hand at affiliate marketing. I realized that there are two main forms of affiliate marketing: Paid Traffic and Free Traffic. Fast Paid Traffic has results but requires high costs and understanding of the underlying algorithm. Meanwhile, Free Traffic requires construction time but is less expensive.

Since I didn't have a lot of money and also lacked a basic knowledge of advertising, I decided to start with Free Traffic. I started by spreading affiliate links on social media sites and building a Facebook Page. My Facebook Page started from a page that didn't have a lot of engagement, but I was determined to build and optimize it.

I created a blueprint plan to improve my site, which included researching the customer file (Gen Z students), referencing similar pages, and sourcing videos to share. I applied techniques like posting videos at the right time and using tools like CapCut to circumvent copyrights.

After about three weeks, my site started to grow steadily. One fine day, I saw a video of myself recommended with over 100k likes and 1.2 million views. My page eventually gained 10k followers as expected, and the income from ad placement and affiliate gradually increased.

3. Results achieved and lessons learned

After about 7 months, I have achieved income from receiving advertising and affiliate bookings of about 20 million VND. However, one day, my Facebook Page was completely lost due to clicking on a strange file. I feel regret not only because of the money but also because of the effort I have spent.

I also experimented with TikTok Shop and achieved an income of about 18 million VND in a few months. However, the change from TikTok Vietnam to TikTok Beta has helped me continue to make money, even though it is getting more and more difficult.

4. Experience and advice for newbies

Through my experience, I have learned some important lessons:

• Don't be discouraged: Learning something new is always difficult. It is important to be persistent and not to be swept away by the crowd.
• Learn more: Before investing in any course or program, do your research and determine what is right for you.
• Focus on one piece: Don't hug too many things. Focus on a specific area to do well before expanding.
• Build a differentiated mindset: Find a way to be different from the majority, find a niche to have a higher chance of success.
• Practice and persevere: Ultimately, continuous practice and perseverance are the determining factors for success.
