JOURNEY TO EARN $8K WITH GOOGLE ADSENSE FROM BLOGGING

Journey to earn $8K with Google AdSense from blogging

Hello everyone! Today, I want to share the story of satisfying my passion for writing and monetizing my blog.

Starting with passion

Since the days of Yahoo360! famous, I started blogging about my emotional thoughts. After graduating, my busy work made me temporarily put aside my passion. By the beginning of 2019, when life was stable, I decided to go back to blogging.

Steps to build a blog

  1. Preparation: I chose Wordpress (free), Newspaper themes, StableHost hosting ($5/month), domain name.com (129k/year) and free/paid plugins.

  2. Content creation: Initially, I write what I like. Then, to increase traffic, I use Google Trends to find "hot" keywords and hire more writers on these topics (200 articles, 75-150k/article).

  3. SEO and traffic pull: I went for free but ineffective backlinks myself, then hired SEO services from Vietnam (cost 20-30 million). Pulling traffic from Facebook failed because the domain was blocked for spam.

  4. Google AdSense: It took me almost half a year to sign up and get money from Google AdSense. At first, it was rejected many times, but after about 100 articles and doing SEO, it was approved.

  5. Troubleshooting: When traffic spiked, I switched to VPS ($8 million/year) and Cloudflare Pro ($20/month) to speed up page loading. I also had a problem with the theme being infected with malware, had to buy a copyrighted theme and took 3 months to fix.

Pros and cons of monetizing a blog

Conclude

My journey was difficult, but it also had many advantages thanks to my knowledge of Digital Marketing and a little luck. Hopefully my story will help those who are planning to monetize their blog.

JOURNEY TO EARN $8K WITH GOOGLE ADSENSE FROM BLOGGING

Hello guys, today I want to share with you a pretty interesting journey: how I made $8,000 with Google AdSense from blogging. Sounds appealing, right? To begin with, I would like to tell you a little bit about my personal story.

When I was in school, although my writing grade never exceeded 7, I always had a passion for writing. I started writing on Yahoo 360!, sharing my thoughts, feelings, and everyday life stories with my friends. By the time I graduated from school and had to worry about money, my passion for writing was forgotten.

At the end of 2018, when my work and life were more stable, I decided to create a blog. With a background in digital marketing, setting up a blog is not too difficult. Here are the steps I took to get started:

Step 1: Set up a Blog

Required ingredients:

  • Source: Wordpress (free)
  • Theme: Newspaper (Note: I used the crack, which almost ruined my blog. More on that later.)
  • Hosting: $5/month plan from StableHost
  • Domain: .com for 129k/year from Inet
  • Plugins: Mostly free, only a few plugins are optimized and photo size reduction is charged.

Setting up a website and pointing to a domain name can be found on YouTube with the keywords "Wordpress web tutorial" or "Wordpress web tutorial."

If you find it too difficult to do it yourself, I recommend hiring someone to set it up. Free platforms such as Blogspot or Wordpress.com can limit customization and development later.

Step 2: Create Content

Once the blog was up and running, I started writing about what I liked and were passionate about. However, to attract a large amount of traffic and make money, you also need to write articles that other people are interested in.

I use Google Trends to search for popular keywords and write related articles. I also hired an external content team to write more articles, at a cost of about 75-150k/article. The content needs to be unique, avoid copying as this can harm your SEO.

Step 3: SEO and Increase Traffic

SEO is the most difficult part of the entire project. Initially, I backlinked myself on free sites, but found it ineffective and tiring. I started hiring SEO services through Fiverr and Seoclerk at a low price, but then switched to SEO teams in Vietnam with higher quality.

I spend about 20-30 million on backlink building. However, I sometimes had trouble pulling traffic from Facebook because I was blocked due to spam, which caused me to lose a large amount of traffic from social.

Step 4: Sign up for Google AdSense and get paid

Signing up for Google AdSense is a big challenge. After about three months and more than 100 articles, I was accepted. However, receiving money is also difficult because of the delay in sending the PIN code. Finally, I had to verify my identity card.

The day I received my first money from Google via Western Union was a very happy day. Keep in mind that Google doesn't currently support Western Union payments, so you'll need to enter your bank account information and Swift code.

Step 5: Troubleshoot

When your blog has a lot of traffic, using cheap hosting can cause problems such as server crashes and slow loading speeds. I switched to VPS and Cloudflare to improve this situation.

I also had problems with free themes, which resulted in the blog being infected with malware. After that, I bought a licensed theme from ThemeForest to be safe.

Another problem is that competitors copy articles and pump dirty backlinks. To deal with it, I had to use the Disavow tool in Google Search Console to remove the bad backlinks.

Conclusion

Advantage:

  • Passion for writing is satisfied
  • Have a sustainable income if everything goes well
  • It is possible to sell the blog at a high price in the future
  • Learn a variety of skills such as content writing, SEO, and keyword research

Shortcoming:

  • There is a risk of failure if the content is not engaging and does not find an effective way to drive traffic
  • SEO costs can be high if you don't do it yourself
  • Requires a lot of technical skills (web work, optimization, performance measurement, SEO, etc.)

Although this journey was difficult, having a background in Digital Marketing and a little luck helped me achieve the desired results. We wish you all the best in your journey!
