Copycat thinking: the shortest path to success

In the world of digital marketing and MMO, an extremely useful mindset that I have successfully applied is the "Copycat mindset". It can be called "Learn and follow" to be more "luxurious", but the essence is still imitation.

Core principle: Everything you do has someone already done it. You are not the first, nor are you the only one. So, instead of tinkering with creativity from scratch, learn from those who came before you. They've been through challenges, learned lessons, and may have done better than you imagined.

Diverse applications: This mindset can be applied in almost any case:

  • Need banners, ads, content? Don't think you're unique. Let's see how competitors and other businesses have done.
  • Online business? Learn how others are building channels, creating content, and engaging with customers.
  • Personal life? From how to dress, communicate, to quitting a job, dating... can all learn from others.

How to imitate?

  1. Define a goal: What do you want to do? What is achieved?
  2. Looking for Role Models: Who Has Been Successful in That Field? What do they do?
  3. Analyze and learn: Carefully learn how they do it, strategies, tools...
  4. Adjust, apply: Apply what you learn to your situation.
  5. Be creative (if possible): Upgrade and improve what you've learned to make a difference.

Note:

  • Imitating ≠ Plagiarism: Learning ideas and ways of doing things, not copying the original.
  • Respect copyright: Don't violate intellectual property regulations.
  • Constantly learning: Always seeking and updating new knowledge and skills.

Final Thoughts: Imitation is the fastest way to shorten the path to success. Learn from the best, apply and be creative to achieve your own goals.

Copycat Thinking

One mindset that I have applied since I started in the field of Digital Marketing and then MMO, is the "imitation" mindset. Sometimes, in order to keep the image, I often express it in a "learn and follow" way, but in fact, it is still imitation.

This thinking can be understood simply as follows:

Everything you are doing, has done, or will do has been done by someone else. You're never the first and it's hard to be the only one. Therefore, you don't necessarily have to invent or invent everything from scratch. No matter how much you try to be creative, chances are that someone else has come up with a better idea and executed it than you did. So, instead of tinkering from scratch, you can "imitate" the way others do it, then create more to improve, or if you can't create more, just do the same as they do.

This "learn and follow" mindset can really help you solve a lot of problems and can be applied in almost any situation:

  • Banner Design: Need a Celebration Banner for Your Company Without Knowing Where to Start? Your company isn't the only one that needs a holiday banner. Look for examples of holiday banners from other companies and follow along.

  • Advertising ideas: Are you looking for advertising ideas for your company's products? There are countless similar products in the world. Research how similar products are advertised and adopted or improved.

  • Group Exploitation: Do you have a Mother and Baby Group but don't know how to exploit? You're not the only one who owns a group on this topic. Let's see how similar groups work and learn from them.

  • Put Affiliate Link on Fanpage: Do you have an entertaining Fanpage but don't know how to set an Affiliate Link? Find similar entertainment Fanpages and observe how they do this.

  • Build a Tiktok channel: Are you a hotgirl, worker, teacher, doctor, or anyone who wants to build a Tiktok channel but don't know where to start? Find similar Tiktok channels and learn from the style, content, equipment, and techniques they use.

  • Make money from Tiktok: Do you have a Tiktok channel with followers and views but don't know how to make money? There are many similar channels that have been successful. Research how they make money and apply those methods.

  • Write a resignation email: Don't know how to write a resignation email? There are a lot of people who quit their jobs every day. Search for resignation email templates and follow along.

  • Plan a date: You don't know what to wear or say when you go out with your lover? You are not the only one facing this problem. Learn how others plan dates and learn from them.

In short, no matter who you are and what you want to do, there is no doubt that someone has done the same thing before you. Look for successful examples and "see what they do, I do it." If possible, be more creative to make things better (like Apple did). This article does not address copyright or ethical issues. We're talking about learning and applying, not stealing ideas.

Imitating those who have succeeded is an effective way to shorten your own path to success. Leave the big things to the big people, and you and I, focus on doing your job well.

Imitative thinking, also known as simulation, is an effective method of learning and development. By observing and learning from those who have succeeded, you can shorten your path to success. Here are some of the benefits and how to apply imitation thinking:

Benefits of copycat thinking

  1. Save time and effort: Instead of having to experiment and make mistakes yourself, you can learn from the experiences of others.
  2. Increase your chances of success: By adopting strategies that have proven to be effective, you can increase your chances of success.
  3. Rapid skill development: Observing and practicing with better people helps you improve your skills quickly.

How to apply imitation thinking

  1. Choose the ideal model: Find people who have achieved success in your field of interest and learn from them.
  2. Observation and analysis: Take a close look at how they work, from how they plan to how they solve problems.
  3. Practice and adjust: Apply what you've learned to your work and adapt it to your circumstances.

Real-life examples

In the field of MMO and Affiliate Marketing, you can learn from those who have succeeded by:

  • Follow their blogs and YouTube channels: Many professionals share their experiences and strategies through articles and videos.
  • Take courses and workshops: This is an opportunity for you to learn directly from experienced people.
  • Join online communities: Social media forums and groups are where you can exchange and learn from like-minded people.
